Kate and Andy – A dreamy Chataeu wedding

A dreamy Chateau wedding amidst the spectacular snowfall in March. When our bride Kate sent us some photographs from her wedding day we couldn’t believe how magical their wedding was. Caught in the ‘Beast from the East’ they certainly made the most of the snowfall which created the dreamiest of backdrops for their wedding at Le Petit Chateau, in Northumberland.

Wanting a modern bridal look Kate found what she was looking for in the Kristen gown by Sottero and Midgley, we loved being part of her bridal journey.

Congratulations Kate & Andy, all of our best wishes. xx

The Venue Our wedding venue was the first venue we saw, tucked away in the beautiful county of Northumberland in a tiny village called Otterburn. Le Petit Chateau feels like a French, country manor, filled with character, jaw dropingly beautiful gardens and the best cocktail menu we’d ever seen. La Belle Epoque where our ceremony took place was like a beautiful, medieval chapel.

Our wedding theme was white and gold with a hint of Pink! I adore glitzy things so the tablecloths were gold and sequin with metallic confetti and white petals strewn everywhere. White flowers in the form of hydrangeas were placed throughout the venue and we had white blossom trees as centre pieces on each table. We wanted our Wedding to be fun and ‘Glamorous’ so we chose black tie for the dress code and got married at 3pm so we had more of an evening reception. An owl delivered our rings, French Martinis was our signature drink and we had dancing till the early hours with the most amazing DJ and Saxophonist. Our wedding took part in the midst of the ‘Beast from the East’. A thick blanket of snow covered Northumberland and as we said our vows snowflakes were falling outside, it really was magical.

The Best Part Seeing Andy’s face at the alter, with tears in his eyes when he saw me walk down the aisle with my Dad and the acoustic singer performing our favourite song in the background – I will never forget that look of happiness on his face for the rest of my life.

The Dress I really wanted a modern Wedding dress, something different – not a classic merengue. I wanted to wear something I’d have great time in and enjoy wearing, and possible something I would wear again! I knew before I even tried it on that this would be “THE” dress is was so different and when the curtain went back and I showed my mum and sister who had come with me they were so quiet (which is very unusual for them) and then they just both went WOW!

From the very first time I stepped into the Harrogate Wedding Lounge I instantly felt relaxed. You are all so friendly, professional and knowledgable and made what is initially a daunting experience such fun. I had my final fitting two weeks before my big day and I think it hit me then that this was really happening and i was actually getting married VERY soon, I became really emotional and the staff were so friendly and reassuring and so lovely to me, on hand with tissues and cups of tea – what an unbelievable team! Nothing was too much trouble.

The seamstresses were fantastic and so professional and easy to talk to, they came up with some fantastic ideas in order to tweak the dress so it matched the vision in my head perfectly! My dress fitted so well and value for money wise they were exceptional.

Kate’s words of wisdom Don’t be daunted, relax, this is the fun part of the whole wedding organising so take your time with it and don’t rush your decision. Take someone with you that you really respect the opinion of and most of all enjoy it!

Winter Wonderland at The Devonshire Arms – Our Bride Amy

Amy and Michael chose a dreamy Winter Wonderland Wedding at The Devonshire Arms to tie the knot after 12 years together. Amy looked so stunning wearing the Jewel gown by Enzoani, we are so happy to have been part of her special day.

Amy shared with us a few details about her big day and her experience of ‘choosing the one’ with us here at The Harrogate Wedding Lounge.

VENUE: We have always loved this venue so much. As children we would both go to Bolton Abbey and made so many happy memories there. It is only a short drive away but you instantly feel as though you are in the heart of the countryside. Our theme was winter wonderland. Our main colour was white to keep in with our theme. We added a christmas feel to our day with real Christmas trees, twig trees and candles. We wanted our guests to leave our wedding in the Christmas spirit.

The Best Part Finally marrying my best friend after 12 years together and for our two young children to be there to witness Mummy and Daddy getting married. It felt so magical that they could be a part of our special day. I remember feeling so emotional walking down the aisle to meet him, such a happy moment.

The Dress When I thought about the types of dresses I love, they all had a lace sleeve and lace detail. I think lace is so stunning and I knew that that was an important factor in what I loved. The first shop we went to when we started our search was The Harrogate Wedding Lounge. The first dress I tried on was Jewel by Enzoani and it blew me away. I felt like a princess. I couldn’t imagine marrying Michael in any other dress and knew instantly.

Walking into The Harrogate Wedding Lounge we felt instantly at ease. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. It was like a little family. Every woman I met would be so easy to talk to and really made my experience so enjoyable. It was such a fun experience trying on all of the dresses. When I tried on my dress it had quite a large important feature missing for me. It had no sleeves. It was mentioned to me that a jacket could be made for me which would give the dress instant sleeves. I thought how amazing that this could be added into the dress so that I was able to tick every box.

I owe The Harrogate Wedding Lounge a massive thank you in creating such a lovely experience for me. It truly was made to feel so easy and fun.

Thank you so much! Lots of Love Amy x

Becky & Marcus – A Natural Retreats Wedding

Our gorgeous bride Becky and now husband Marcus chose the beautiful Natural Retreats venue in the Yorkshire dales for their wedding back in May.

Becky wore a beautiful Sottero And Midgley leatherette gown with detachable skirt which just looked amazing against the rolling Yorkshire countryside. Becky’s incredible flowers by Manor Garden were a key feature of the day and Becky said she wanted to keep everything else quite muted so that the flowers and the countryside could bring all the colour to the day.

Becky and Marcus chose to write their own vows and as you can see from the images the ceremony looks like one of the highlights of the day – both grinning from ear to ear and clearly so happy to be celebrating their vows with their closest friends and family.

Of her experience with us Becky said:

‘Nowhere felt anywhere near as beautiful and welcoming as The Harrogate Wedding Lounge, I felt at home straight away! I just knew I would be walking out of there with my dress. The staff are warm and welcoming with an exceptional level of service, relaxing atmosphere and large selection of beautiful gowns’

I’ll leave you now with some amazing images by the very talented   Lissa Alexandra photography

Our Bride Rebecca – A Charming and Elegant York Wedding

Today we are sharing with you the beautiful wedding of HWL bride Rebecca. Rebecca opted for a classic and elegant bridal look, choosing Justin Alexander 8835 gown. Perfectly styled with a soft single tier veil and a beautiful Spring hued bouquet from Ilona Hall flowers. We love the charming details of this wedding held at a venue filled with so much character. The photographs captured by Graham Frostick at Ideal Imagery are delightful and really tell the story of their special day…. x

_GMF0347-Edit _GMF0596

The Venue Stunning tudor fronted building in Yorks Museum Gardens. We held the whole day there. The ceremony took place downstairs amongst beautiful stone pillars, flagstone flooring and stunning architecture. Speeches and dinner were upstairs with the top table set against lead patterned windows overlooking the gardens with high, wooden beamed ceilings. Photos took place outside amongst the gardens, in the ruins of the Abbey and on the museum’s grand entrance as well.

We didn’t have a particular theme for the wedding but knew we wanted pale blues and whites as our colour scheme. We reflected these in the flowers, table decorations, chair covers and mens ties, with the groomsmen and bridesmaids in dark blue. My main inspiration came from my aunt’s wedding a few years previously which I had thought was absolutely stunning. However I collected numerous other ideas from hours on Pinterest, most of which I changed my mind about at least 5 times and never used, but it was fun nonetheless. Visiting lots of wedding fairs helped too and the free cake samples at most of these were just an added bonus!!

The Dress I was aiming for fairly classic and timeless but at the same time wanted to be individual and unique, i wanted a dress that people hadn’t seen before, something different but not too current fashion if that makes sense!

Top tips for bridal shopping Keep an open mind. Whatever you think you want, you probably don’t! I went in thinking I wanted a slim fitting, all lace, long sleeved white dress. That is not what I bought. Trust your dress consultant, ask for their suggestions, they do this job for a reason and the ladies at Harrogate Wedding Lounge can certainly be trusted to find you your perfect dress. The dress Allyson picked for me hadn’t even caught my eye when I had looked through but as soon as it was on me I fell in love! I would not have found my dress if I hadn’t asked for her suggestion so I really recommend asking.

When you almost refuse to take it off in the fitting room because you want to wear it forever, when you go home and google it constantly just to look at the picture, when it appears in your dreams that’s when you know it’s the dress. You don’t have to be 100% sure the first time it’s on, it’s a big decision to make on the spot, but if it’s the dress you will know when you leave the shop and get home without it that actually it’s definitely your dress!

How would you describe your experience with us as a boutique? You definitely stood out from the crowd, you found my dress! You were so accommodating from the start. Some other dress shops had almost suggested to me that I don’t even bother with an appointment as I didn’t have a particularly large budget, but you were friendly and helpful and only showed me dresses within my price range. As I mentioned before I wouldn’t have chosen my dress to try as I didn’t think it was the style I was after. However Allyson’s knowledge and expertise meant she was able to make suggestions based on the information I had given her and my opinions on other dresses we had tried on and pull the perfect dress for me. For which I cannot thank you enough.

The best part Seeing my husband to be waiting at the end of the aisle with a tear in his eye after he swore I wasn’t going to be able to make him cry!! The whole day was incredible though and I will never forget any of it.

Thank you so much. From start to finish my experience has been incredible and the service I received has been outstanding. Without your help I would never have found my perfect dress, which made me feel beautiful and confident on my wedding day and helped to make it the most special day of my life.

Laura and Mark’s gorgeous barn wedding

Today we get to share with you the perfect rustic details of Laura and Mark’s wedding. Laura wore a vintage inspired beaded gown by Maggie Sottero.

Held at one of our favourite venues The Yorkshire Wedding Barn Laura and Mark created a wedding not only fitting to them but simply perfect for the venue. With rustic elements, art deco details and bright tones. The personal touches to this wedding will inspire you to get hands on and create some of your very own decor (see the gorgeous gold pineapples!)

We will now hand you over to Laura who tells us all about the details of this dreamy barn wedding…

The Venue

We fell in love with the Yorkshire Wedding Barn before we even saw it in real life – having seen it on the Internet we pretty much knew that is where we wanted to get married! When we visited it and took in the gorgeous grounds and perfectly renovated barn and surrounding buildings, there was no question. We even changed from wanting a summer wedding to booking an autumn wedding to secure our date. The YWB is the perfect mix of rustic glamour and suited our style down to the ground.

The Details

Our wedding style was fitting with the barn style – rustic glamour with a touch of art deco style! We love a mismatch, yet put together style.
The barn was kitted out with hundreds of fairy lights which were the back drop to the entire wedding – we then added to this with lots of mismatched candles, crystal cut vases, terrariums and not forgetting our beloved pineapples – which we sprayed gold for the occasion! The pineapples held our golden glittery table numbers.

We had giant balloons, and our table plan was hand written on an art deco style mirror. There were our parents and grandparents wedding photos, and of course our wonderful cake – which was 3 tiers and constructed of a Victoria sponge, chocolate ganache cake and our own design of flavour ‘pistachmallow’ – a taste sensation of marshmallow flavoured cake and pistachio buttercream – the whole thing was then covered in buttercream and edible flowers.
We cannot forget our ‘LAM’ lights – my husband Mark and I are collectively LAM, so instead of the traditional huge lights people have spelled out ‘Love’ with – we had LAM! And finally Marks dad sign wrote some personalised signs to dot around the venue and grounds to build the excitement for our arriving guests from the roadside to the doors of the barn.

The colour scheme was pinks and peaches – in bright sorbet tones rather than pastel. These were inspired by a street containing next door neighbour doors of the those colours – we loved how they complemented each other and they became the basis of our décor and the bridal party’s accent clothing elements.

I love magazines – so they were my obvious choice for inspiration, I created mood boards and ripped out pages which were then glued in my ‘bride book of joy’. I also used Instagram and Rock My Wedding along with a few other sites – they are all very addictive!!

Bridal Style
My dress was very art deco, slim fitting, jewelled and beaded – I LOVED it!! My bridal accessories included sequin shoes, as those who know me will know – I am sequin obsessed and wear them constantly – so they had to feature in the wedding!! My jewellery was all from Zoe and Morgan – a company I have followed on social media for years, Mark started my collection of their jewellery by proposing to me with one of their rings – the wedding rings came from their and since then I added to my collection, treating myself to some of their pieces for my other wedding jewellery. I also wore my precious Grandma Dolly’s wedding ring, she passed away just a few months before our wedding day, so having her ring with me made me feel she was there in some way.

Finding the dress
I think I knew in my heart which style I would go for I even begun trying on. When I found my dress, mum (who I was the only one to see my dress before the big day) were very emotional! I was overjoyed! We had a good old sob, and a glass of fizz – it was a very special moment!

From the moment I walked in the door at the boutique, I was made to feel hugely welcome and very special. I loved that the boutique its self is stylish and cosy, it had a really professional, yet friendly feel. Leanne, her mum and the rest of the team are so lovely – they make you feel at home in their wonderful world! The boutique was also immaculate – it seems like that should be obvious, but some other places I visited were not so. It was a real pleasure to visit – for my gown search and then the subsequent try ons.

Special Moments

The most memorable part of my wedding day: There are so so many! Getting ready with my mum, my dad seeing me for the first time in my dress, walking down the alter to Mark, saying I do….. but probably mostly when Mark surprised me with a video he’d made of a lot of our friends and family miming and acting to Kodaline’s song The One! A total surprise and quite obviously a huge amount of effort in organising and editing it all together – it was amazing!!

Real Bride Daisy – A Vibrant Boho Barn Wedding

We are thrilled to be sharing with you the bright and vibrant wedding of this gorgeous couple held at The Cheerful Chilli Barn in Otley this summer. Our bride Daisy looked like a bohemian dream wearing the Ginger gown by Enzoani she styled the look perfectly with a gorgeous floral crown and a striking a bold lip.

Put your feet up and immerse yourself in these hugely inspiring images captured by the wonderfully talented Jordanna Marston

The Venue
“Our venue was a barn on the Yorkshire chevin right on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful town of Otley. The barn is famous for its Vegetarian food and amazing cakes. We also hired an old-fashioned patel pole marque from Yorkshire yurts we ate, had speeches and a big Irish sing song inside the tent. It was lit with fairy light and lots of handmade punting and pompoms. The Barn is where we had our motown funk band so there was lots of dancing and with a bar inside too there was a lot of gin drank!”

“The only themes we both wanted was for it to be natural and relaxed. We both went for colours we both liked as we wanted it to be bright and vibrant. So although we didn’t have a colour scheme we choose a lot of corals and pinks.”

Daisy’s Advice
“Be open minded and try on lots of different fits.  Go with your gut and choose a dress the represents you.”

How did you feel when you found the dress?
“I felt like a filmstar. The dress fit was so flattering and elegant I couldn’t stop looking at it and tried it on so many times because I didn’t wan to take it off.”

“My experience was excellent. As soon as I saw the quality of the website I knew I would find an amazing dress. The shop is beautiful and the excitement I felt when I walked through the door for my first appointment I will never forget! Me and my mum looked at each other and we knew we would find a dress that day. The selection of gowns was incredible and the quality made it hard to pick just one dress! Such unique dresses made the shop stand heads and shoulders above the other shops I’d been to. The team there where amazing very friendly with lots of great advise on fits and styles to try.”

The Special Moments

“Seeing the reactions of my bridesmaids and mum when I had my hair and makeup done and they finally saw me in my dress I will never forget. My husbands face when he saw me walk up the aisle he looked so proud!”

A Dream Destination Wedding – Our Bride Ness

We are so thrilled to share with you the beautiful beach wedding of our bride Ness which took place in June this year. Ness opted for an elegant yet glamorous bridal style wearing Enzoani’s Jenny gown with a bespoke made delicate tulle jacket created by our incredibly talented seamstress Jo!

The Venue

A stunning venue right on the beach overlooking the sea on the Costa Blanca. It’s the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, a party – or a wedding! It’s a truly beautiful gem of a find, which doesn’t look much from the outside, as it doesn’t give much away as it’s very private but once inside the all white venue donned with amazing views and a gorgeous sea breeze it really is paradise for a day. There is a sandy section for the ceremony with a cabana for the alter, white leather sofas, and chairs laid out to replicate that of a church aisle. You then move into the other area to eat. Beautiful food, a great laid back vibe in the day and comes alive in the evening for a truly memorable party well into the early hours! The staff are fantastic, serving your every desire and fading into the background but always there are your side if you should need a thing.

 The Styling

I was laid back with the planning of my wedding although I was keen to emulate a glamorous and elegant feel obviously with a beachy feel to it. The dusky pink tones were a theme throughout as well as white and silver.

StudioSeed did all my wedding stationery and their blog is fantastic for ideas as well as their Pinterest site, I used Pinterest a lot as well as all the bridal magazines… I created a vision board of my day as I was getting married abroad I found images and pictures was the best way to communicate and there was no misinterpretation.

What tips would you give to brides to be starting out on the dress shopping experience?

Be open-minded and the main thing is to enjoy it!

Finding ‘The Dress’
I was over the moon at finding it in the first and only wedding dress shop I stepped in – and didn’t feel the need or want to go anywhere else. I loved it then minute I tried it on. Jo is a creative dream! WOW! She truly is incredible at putting all the thoughts into reality. So delicate, patient and busying away without a murmur – a true credit to you. I simply loved my dress. I loved every single minute of wearing it and am so thankful to you guys for making me feel a princess for a day. I couldn’t have asked for more.

I couldn’t fault your impeccable service from being extremely helpful, giving fab advice, your total patience, being so lovely and friendly to giving every attention to detail. It shines through that you are passionate about your job and each individual bride. I loved the finishing touches the most, feeling my dress fit me like a glove and all the finer details coming together of the jacket I wore felt very special and exciting.

Memorable Moment
Sitting looking at everyone and being overwhelmed they were all their to celebrate us and our special day. Hearing how much everyone loved the day and partying till the early hours. I loved it it all!

Ness What can I say?! You were the first wedding shop I stepped into and I didn’t need nor want to look anywhere else. Thank you so much helping me find the dress of my dreams, you made the whole process a dream and I enjoyed every minute of visiting your beautiful gem of a wedding lounge. We had a magical day and loved every minute. I can’t tell you how many comments I received of my beautiful dress, literally people said it was the most stunning they had seen and that was from many who have attended an abundance of weddings! Thanks again for making me feel very special and I’ll certainly miss my visits to the lounge of loveliness! The Wedding of Jo and Jonny

I LOVE receiving photos and testimonials from my brides…

We work so closely with brides and their families for so long before the big day that it is wonderful to see how it all came together on the day. The make up, the hair, the father and mother of the bride, the bridesmaids and flowers. Seeing it all come together on the day is special and is often the bit we miss out on.

I am very lucky that some of my brides book me to come and help them dress on the morning of the wedding, an extra pair of hands can be useful and if your best friend has a melt down over putting you in your dress it can be a goodsend to brides to have someone with them that knows exactly how the gown should look, where it should sit on your body and place every ripple of fabric in the right place

Ealier this week I was sent this fabulous video from Sue the lovely mum of one of our brides Jo. Its so pretty and I really wanted to share it with you.

“We were married on the 9th June in St Cuthbert’s Church, Sessay, following the service we had our wedding breakfast at my parents home in Sessay and partied the night away in our marquee with all our friends and family.
Thanks to Burns Freelance for summing up our wedding day so beautifully and to the Harrogate Wedding Lounge for the beautiful bridal dress ‘Zabrina’ by Maggie Sottero”

Thanks Hayley!
Jo xx
